Sterling Silver Jewellery Care
Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals.
As a result of its composition sterling silver it may tarnish gradually over time. Tarnishing is a natural process that is caused when sterling silver is exposed to humidity and chemicals. To minimize this we suggest you clean your sterling silver jewellery regularly by gently buffing it with a soft cotton cloth.
To store you sterling silver jewellery you should -
- Ideally place it in a plastic or zip lock bag before putting it into the Sheenashona jewellery pouch and box provided
- Store each item individually so that your jewellery does not rub or scratch against each other
- Keep your jewellery away from heating, window sills or the bathroom as damp and hot condition may cause sterling silver jewellery to tarnish badly. Hot weather, bright sunlight and perspiration can also speed up the tarnishing process
You should always remove your sterling silver jewellery before entering the shower, pool, hot tub or the sea or before exercising, cleaning, gardening or retiring to bed in the evening.
Always apply your cosmetics, perfumes or aftershaves before you put on your jewellery as perfumes, lotions and creams may tarnish and corrode your sterling silver jewellery. Shop our silver collection.
